For some experiments, a larger scale of testing may be required, e.g. to assess practical situations or to allow transformation of test results into practice. Our large-scale test facility allows us to carry out such tests. Examples of large-scale testing activities include fire engulfment tests, flammability tests, runaway reactions, process simulation trials etc.
Large-scale experiments that involve release of hazardous decomposition products or extensive emissions (gas, vapor or noise) are carried out in our Total Containment Tank, to ensure personal safety and prevent pollution of our environment.
Total Containment Tank
The Total Containment Tank is a unique testing device. It consists of a 55 m3 steel tank with a pressure rating of 28 bar. The tank can be hermetically closed and is provided with advanced scrubber- and ventilation systems, to reduce emissions (e.g. fumes, gasses and noise) to an absolute minimum.
The oxygen level in the tank is fully controllable. The tank can be completely inerted by filling with gasses such as e.g. Nitrogen. The tank is heatable. Applications of the Total Containment Tank include large-scale runaway experiments, large-scale packaging tests, aerosol explosion tests, etc.
